San Pedro Creek's art turns a San Antonio walk into a series of local stories
The Culture Park combines tile, ceramic work and words in stone, with a current Salinas boardwalk repair closure to plan around.

Art at San Pedro Creek Culture Park is worked into the route itself. Tile murals, ceramic bridge details and words etched in limestone connect the creek's history with contemporary San Antonio artists, giving a walk reasons to stop at more than a viewpoint.
The park's art guide identifies Alex Rubio's Aqua and Joe Lopez's Bellos Recuerdos del Teatro Alameda y Tiempos Pasados between Travis and Houston Streets. Diana Kersey's Bridges of Understanding appears at street-level bridges, while John Phillip Santos's historical text and poetry is encountered at various points along the creek.
Use the official self-guided tour to choose a section and learn the artist and project context before visiting. The River Authority's October 12, 2026 notice says the Salinas boardwalk is closed for repairs for the next couple of weeks. Check current alerts and follow posted routes rather than assuming an uninterrupted walk through every segment.
Give one work enough attention to notice its medium as well as its subject. Ceramic, transferred imagery and carved words meet weather, light and passing movement in different ways. The larger park also combines native landscaping with water infrastructure, so the setting is part of the experience rather than a neutral wall around the art.
